Acrylic Painting of a young Black Madonna in the rich regal colors. This loving mother cradles her son with the hope of a wondrous and uncertain future. The burden of this honor has been placed upon her, and her baby trusts her to believe in him. The Madonna is an exceptional symbol in my life, and I paint them in a warm, loving circle of faith and comfort.

I painted this on 11" x 14" canvas panel, using acrylics and enamel paint.

Born in Jamaica, NY, Stacey Torres is a Folk/Fauvist artist and writer living in the Midwest. Inspired by her Caribbean heritage, her primary focus are female portraits and lush garden landscapes, painted with an abundance of brilliant color using watercolor, oil pastels, acrylics and other mix media. A self-taught artist, Ms. Torres’ love of art began in early childhood. In the summer of 2014, she began to paint after a 45-year hiatus when her mother was dying from Alzheimer’s.
